‘Love is all there is. Our essence is pure love. How shall we experience it?’
I am the daughter of an artist and a soldier...........
Life has been wonderful. I am grateful. Most challenging of all has been the integration
of the artist and the soldier inside me. Can you imagine what it is like to be soft,
sensitive, dreamy and intuitive juxtaposed with being highly organized, regimented, with
strong leadership and entrepreneurial qualities AND a commanding personality! It
should be obvious to think which side of me should be dominant.... but actually both
sides exist side by side. They support each other. I guess I just got lucky. Maybe
because my paternal grandfather and great grandfather were both doctors of Unani
Medicine. Also, my mother had a deeply spiritual nature and a very loving heart and it
was very healing to be around her. Maybe that was the common denominator.
My brother, Vijay, the only other person on the planet with exactly the same gene pool
as me .... has the same....a commanding, entrepreneurial nature and the gentlest
sensitivity of an artist. He has a heart that overflows with love and always has a lot of
friends. I guess the artist and the soldier exist side by side in him too. Peacefully.
So, who am I as the child of an artist and a soldier? I know I am alert to both.... nature,
the senses and mysticism.....and I am also alert to danger and destruction!
This has certainly played out in the area of love as you will see in the section.... KNOW
YOU KNOW ME. A series of revelations. In my life followed a sequence of events
exactly as was revealed in the paintings. It was daunting to think where it was all
coming from!
Having an artist for a mother and a soldier for a father is not about growing up in a
passive household. Actually, it was pretty super-charged. A lot of emotion, ideas,
creativity, projects, relatives......a constant flow of relatives...our home was a really warm
loving place....and constant activity, playtime, road trips etc. I grew up full of creative
ideas. Kept manifesting all these ideas. I have had multiple careers. I remember my
father once saying " If you get one more idea put it under your mattress and forget
about it! " my brother is my best friend but he also the one I have had the most fights
with. If you have met a sensitive, quiet, dreamy artist with a soft musical voice....that is
not me! I have a commanding organized stable personality but there is also the intuition,
the visions, deep perceptions of man and nature that have added much masala to my
life. I do not relate to starving artists. I believe being an artist is a place of great
abundance for all of life is open for you. Other artists may not feel the same but
remember I have the soldier in me that keeps things in order, the artist that likes to
express and the common denominator, the healing energy, that knows all things come
from love.
